Roma-prosjektet

AMURT Romania completed all the projects (Children’s
Home 1993-2008, Homeless Youth 2009-2015, and Roma project 2014-2016). All
were successful projects such as the homeless youth where 8 youths out of
10 succeeded to leave the street by receiving life skill training
(cooking, cleaning, money management, job seeking and emotional support),
vocational skill diploma and jobs. In those six years AMURT supported 130
youths. Currently AMURT runs temporary social accommodation for
disadvantage youths in AMURT’s apartments in Bucharest. We have 11 youths”.

From the Roma project which was funded by Norway/EEA grants, AMURT still
have a loan of 1,900 Euro which was to cover AMURT’s co-funding. Norway
gave 64,000 Euro and AMURT gave 7,000 Euro.

In a subsequent “Independent Living Program” outside the Center, they learn the real independent life in an apartment, holding a job, paying rent, and taking care of other related life matters by themselves.
